Stewardship Asia Centre

In the summer of 2016, I interned with the Stewardship Asia Centre, a thought-leadership centre housed within Temasek, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. In order to support SAC’s research and client recommendations, I completed a research report analyzing about the cultural differences between corporate social responsibility and stewardship.

First, I compared the theoretical and cultural backgrounds between CSR and stewardship. Then, I compared Coca-Cola and Singapore Airlines to determine whether these companies adopted a CSR or stewardship approach based on their national and organizational cultures. I found that CSR is more of a western concept due to its short-term approach and stewardship focuses on longer-term strategies. Additionally, companies choose strategies based on their organizational culture.
